Yes, chlorine bleach works. Phenomenally well, actually. Sodium hypochlorite cleans fast, and any company that tells you it doesn't isn't being honest.

We're not going to pretend our way is the only way to get a house clean. What we'll do instead is explain exactly how our way works, so you can decide for yourself.

How chlorine bleach actually cleans

When a company "soft washes" with bleach, they're spraying diluted sodium hypochlorite onto your home. It kills the algae and mildew on contact, the green and black discoloration vanishes, and they rinse and leave.

Fast and cheap, which is the whole appeal.

The problem is what bleach doesn't distinguish between. It's an aggressive oxidizer, and it treats your plants, your lawn, and the microbes in your soil exactly the way it treats the algae on your siding.

That's the yellowed grass along the drip line. That's the smell through your open windows. That's the runoff heading for the storm drain and, eventually, the creek. And when it's rushed or mixed too strong, which the race-to-the-bottom crowd does constantly because their model is speed, it strips finishes, corrodes metal, and damages the exact things it was hired to clean near.

How our way works

Bleach isn't our first choice. Our standard is oxygen-based cleaners instead. The active ingredient releases hydrogen peroxide, the same compound in the brown bottle in your medicine cabinet, working on the same principle.

Here's the actual mechanism. The peroxide reacts with the organic growth on your home and oxidizes it: it breaks the algae, mildew, and grime down and lifts them off the surface so they rinse away cleanly. It does the same fundamental job bleach does, it just does it without chlorine, and without the collateral damage. When it's finished reacting, it breaks back down into water and soda ash (the same soda ash used in baking and laundry), which is why it doesn't linger in your soil or your gutters.

The trade-off is honest: peroxide works by dwell time, not brute force. Where bleach flashes the green away in seconds, our treatment needs time on the surface to do the same work, and the stubborn spots get treated by hand and given a second pass. It's more labor and it's slower. That's not a weakness in the product. That's the cost of not using the harsh stuff, and it's a cost we build into how we work rather than one we cut.
