That second question matters more than most homeowners realize, and it’s the one we think you deserve a real answer to before you hire anyone.

Where the water actually goes
​
When a house or driveway gets washed, the runoff doesn’t disappear. It flows across your yard, down your driveway, and into the nearest storm drain. And here’s the part most people don’t know: storm drains are not connected to a treatment plant. Unlike the water that goes down your kitchen sink, storm drain runoff goes straight into local creeks, streams, and waterways, untreated. Whatever was in that water when it left your property is what’s now in the water your neighborhood’s wildlife, and eventually its people, come into contact with.

"It’s diluted" isn’t the defense some companies think it is

Talk to enough operators in this industry, and you’ll hear a familiar line: the bleach is so diluted by the time it hits the ground, it’s basically harmless. It’s a comforting thing to say to a customer standing on their own lawn watching a hose run toward the street. It is not, however, an accurate description of how environmental regulations actually work.

Sodium hypochlorite discharge into storm drains and waterways is regulated, not because a few drops here or there are individually catastrophic, but because "it’s diluted" is not a legal or environmental standard, it’s an assumption. Regulations exist precisely because runoff adds up, because dilution at the point of application doesn’t mean dilution at the point where dozens of driveways drain into the same creek, and because "we didn’t think it would matter" has never been an acceptable answer when it does. If a company is relying on dilution as their entire environmental safeguard, that’s not a system, that’s a hope.

Why our chemistry doesn’t have this problem
​
We use eco-friendly, chlorine-bleach-free cleaning chemistry for a lot of reasons, but this is one of the most concrete ones. Our cleaners work through oxidation, not chlorine, and when they finish reacting, they break down into water and soda ash, the same soda ash used in baking and laundry. There’s no lingering toxic residue to worry about diluting correctly. There’s nothing left that needs a legal argument to justify.

That’s not a marketing detail. It’s the practical result of choosing chemistry that doesn’t create a liability in the first place, for your landscaping, for the creek down the hill, and for you, as the homeowner whose property the water left from.

What you’re actually choosing

A cheap wash and a careful one can look identical in the after photo.

We’d rather you know what to ask a company before you hire them: what are you using, and where does the water go?
